The paparazzi is a freelance photographer, especially one who takes candid pictures of celebrities for publication. Paparazzi is a fusion of the Italien words papatacci, meaning gnat and razzi meaning the popping of flashlights. Paparazzi photographers are fueled by large sums of money offered by the tabloid press. No major celebrity can avoid them. Though some say that they are just doing their job, others believe that is is going too far and needs limits.

There was a recent situation where a paparrazzi photographer got killed while trying to get a picture of celebrity pop star, Justin Biebers white Ferrari. He saw Biebers car getting pulled over and took some pictures, but as he was going back to his own car, he got struck by a vehical and died. Bieber, though, gave his condolaces to the paparrazzi photographers family. While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim, Bieber said in a statement. Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders and the photographers themselves.

The paparrazzi can recive up to thousands of dollars for candid pictures of celebrities. As celebrities become more popular, the public wants to know what they are doing every single second of the day, even when they arent on camera. The paparazzi make it their job to find out. Today, paparrazzis tread on private property, take pictures of intimate moments, and even go as far as stalking. They will do anything to get a picture. Paparazzi photographers repeatedly hunt celebrities and their families for a chance to photograph them in candid, unflattering moments.

There are anti-paparazzi laws that got passed though. In California, they made harsher laws on the anti-paparazzi found breaking traffic laws or interfering with the operation of a celebritys car while in pursuit of a photo. Under this new legislation, those guilty can receive a fine of up to $5,000 or a year in prison. Also, in Hawaii, there is an anti-paparazzi law which Steven Tyler is backing up. Celebrities could start suing photographers if they take pictures of celebrities on private property. People are noticiing that what they (paparazzi) aredoing is wrong and trying to stop it.

Ive come to the coclusion that the paparazzia are going too far and is pleased to know that they have laws. Clebreties are people just like you and I and should have the same rights as us. I know that they are famous and are going to have fans following, but they should at least have some privacy to themselves. It isnt right to have them publicly humiated by the media for paparazzis own selfish reasons. Celebrities shouldnt not feel safe in their own home.
