Swimming is an ancient aquatic sport. Swimming has become a popular thing since its origin. Many recreation centers contain pools as well as residential owners for private use. My favorite sport unquestionably is swimming, second is taekwondo. I learned swimming when I was 4 or 5 years old but of course who wouldnt know how to swim in that age of mine if we are living next to the sea until now because of my father works. There are several reasons why I prefer swimming over all other sports. However the topmost remains, my love of water. Besides, swimming does not require expensive gear. A swimsuit and a pair of waterproof goggles and you are set to swim. There are four strokes in competitive swimming.
The freestyle which is my personal favorite has no restrictions. The three other styles are the backstroke, the breaststroke, which is commonly called as frog style, and the butterfly. During summer I am already excited to start the 1st semester of the school year 2013-2014. Having a swimming a class is already a dream come true because I really want to learn how to swim properly. Swimming for fitness is an activity which offers health benefits for a lifetime and is well worth the effort it takes to get into the pool. It increases my lung capacity and makes my heart pump better. It also gives me the chance to hang around with friends frolicking in the water. It gives me respite from the heat. Regular swimming help me builds endurance, muscle strength, and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to my regular workouts. Besides, people all ages can swim. As swimming is a non-weight bearing exercise which I am glad. It is easy on the joints and even people with arthritis can swim without worrying that the exercise might ruin their bones further. Swimming burns calories a mile per pound of body weight so its a good exercise for weight loss as well. There are many psychological benefits to swimming.
If you relax and swim with very little effort and let your mind wander focusing on nothing but the rhythm of your stroke before long a feeling of well-being settles similar to the feeling one gets from meditation. For me swimming is a mixture of exercise and fun. I dont have any difficulty in learning how to swim but of course sometimes I also choke some water during our practical in swimming. Spending time floating on my back listening to the water lap my feet is so soothing and relaxing that it makes me wish I didnt ever have to step out of the water. Knowing how to swim can me survival in emergencies. Swimming can also aid in physical therapy and is a general exercise. Many muscles in my body are utilized.
